Meet the Maker
Wayne Wise
Double U Leather
Leather artisan Wayne Wise, may be best known for his professional rodeo and horse show announcing talents, but there's more to him than meets the ears. Wayne began tooling leather way back when in 4-H. During high school, he worked at the local saddle shop where he learned to repair saddles and build small items from scratch. It was also in high school where Wayne began to make chaps for his rodeo-travelling partners. At the time, Wayne's focus was on riding bulls, and leather was simply a means to earn money for entry fees.
Fast-forward to 2006…Wayne set up a little shop to make a few items for friends and family. At about the same time, he also learned the art of Sheridan style carving at a reining show he was announcing. In a short amount of time, Wayne began to turn out some very nice items, and the word spread. Now, Wayne churns out custom orders constantly.
