Just your average neighbor the Meerkat. We cast 3 and have 2 remaining. A group of Meerkats is called a 'Mob'. I created these meerkats that allegorically represent a figurative mob by having them wear the same outfit. They look the same, but are they? Each is slightly different than the other. In the lost wax casting process I changed the direction of the meerkats heads while they were still in the wax form. There are small differences if you look closely. These meerkats are more individual than alike. Sculptures are approximately 15 1/2" tall. The rock stand is 9 1/2" w X 6 1/2"d Cost is $1450.00 ea + shipping I'm interested in perspectives. How people view the world. I like to use wildlife as models to explore symbolisms in order to understand beliefs we in order to understand the world around us. The meerkats were created by sculpting clay, making a mold of the clay pattern and pouring hot wax into the mold to create a replica of the original pattern. At this stage slight variations can be made to the wax sculpture. Then, the waxes are dipped into a slurry and coated with silica casting sand to create a shell. Once the shell is dried, it's placed into a burn out kiln to allow the wax pattern to melt out of the shell which leaves a hollow negative of the original. That is when molten bronze is poured into the shell. And WAH-LAH! Bronze sculptures. We sculpt and cast all of our sculptures in order to have quality control over the entire process.

For Fireplace ScreensI am so happy I was able to find Paula and Larry at Earth Eagle Forge! The work on my custom firescreen is EXQUISITE. I don't think I could have found a more skilled artisan for this project. Paula is such a professional - very thorough, timely, courteous and honest. I asked for a very large, detailed piece to be mounted on an uneven rock surface and she was able to pull it off and contain the cost as much as possible without sacrificing the artistic integrity of the piece. I was kept up to date and involved in the entire process. Because of bad weather we were forced to wait a few days before we could uncrate the firescreen (torture!) and we'll need to wait a few more days before installing as its going on our covered fireplace outside, BUT, I can not wait to post pictures of this amazing piece. I would not hesitate to work with Earth Eagle Forge again for any future projects - thanks Paula!!!
