Karate God Busaganashi

This piece was created as a replica of a wooden carved sculpture that is located in a Okinawa Japan. The story is that the the wooden Busaganashi carved statue which serves as the symbol for Miyazato Ei'ichi Sensei's Jundokan dojo in Okinawa, Japan was originally commissioned by a student while traveling in the Philippines. It was given to Miyagi Chojun (a Shinto) who venerated the Busaganashi every day. During an Okinawan air raid in WWII Miyagi's picture of the Busaganashi (which he had acquired in China during his studies) was destroyed. Apparently, the gesture was so overwhelming that it brought the karate master to tears. This piece was a pleasure to learn about and create for such an inspiring story to be continued for many more years to come.

Christina was GREAT! She stepped up when another maker didn't respond to my request and sent pictures and kept me updated through the whole process. I would definitely work with her again!

I am super happy with the final project. Christina was very professional, sent me numerous updates and photos while progressing with the project. As soon as she was finished she sent it right out along with a tracking number. I received the pacakge in just a couple days. If I was to need another painting I would absolutely work with her again, as well as recommending anyone else to work with her as well.

Christina from Sophia's Room was amazing. She kept me abreast of each step of the project she was working on for my husbands special birthday gift. It was the first time I truly found him to be speechless as she took the idea from concept to finished art piece. My husband loves his Busagnashi and is very proud to own this fine piece of art.
