This is the first try at a chain like this. It's a pretty hefty wallet chain, the clips at each end are 42 mm titanium with stainless springs. The chain is made of alternating sections of soldered 10 gauge sterling silver and titanium beads. Each bead is 5/8" in diameter and 1/4" thick. The titanium has been heat colored to some bronze and blue colors. The sterling was given a liver of sulfur patina. The chain is 18" long from the inside of the clips. All of the components except for the clips are hand made, by me.
Ober Metal Works
Hello, my name is Patrick Ober and I have been making custom chainmail armour and jewelry since 1992. Beginning in 2000 I have begun to specialize in chainmail jewelry, everything from finger rings and earrings to heavy necklaces. Each item is hand made, one at a time using a combination of fabricated and purchased clasps and other findings.
Each piece of jewelry or armour starts out as raw wire or sheet that is formed and bent into its final form. I work primarily with sterling silver, fine silver, titanium, bronze/brass, and various steels for armour. I also make a variety of classical Loop in Loop Chains that are based on ancient Mediterranean examples.
I received a extremely lovely silver, heavy gauge, wallet chain. Have been fascinated with it ever since I received it. And Patrick's put up with a lot of nuisance questions from me. Sorry Patrick. I am very grateful for having such a really great and extremely strong handcrafted piece of craftsmanship. Thanks. Much appreciated. Chris Whittle
Working with Patrick was a pleasure. Patrick altered his design from a braclet to be a wallet chain per my request. It turned out perfect. I'm so excited to give it as a birthday present..
A+++, nicely made, hope to get more tops from seller
Very happy, spins like w dream, pleasure to do business with!
Hi Patrick this was a very good experience. The only thing was that, and perhaps I misunderstood the diameter of the chainmail was 3/8 but when it arrived it is closer to 1/2". The only other thing was the shipping a little steep, but is was my request. Nice workmanship otherwise. Karl
