This small cherry desk was a joy to make. It started with select boards that we special ordered for the project and dimensions sized just right to make a small workstation for a 27" iMac. The wood had some initial work done with power tools to cut it to rough dimensions, but after that all of the work was done with hand tools. The legs are held together with dowels done in walnut to create a nice contrast. Cherry strips cover the end grain and the table was finished with linseed oil to keep that "in the wood" look.

Cooper's Custom Projects is a small wood shop where we have a passion for building well-constructed kitchen and dining room tables, coffee tables, unique shelves, entertainment centers, console tables, children's furniture, toys and more.
Ours is a home-based business, so we have lower overhead but still have a high-quality process and facility with a large shop and dedicated clean paint-room.
We specialize in building rustic and homey furniture, but also have experience with built-ins, cabinets, and modern furniture. We also build most of our projects out of reclaimed wood to help the Earth and to give your new piece some added history and character.
Depending on your needs we source new or reclaimed wood from local mills in New England.
Cooper's Custom Projects also has a passion for finishes, both painted and stained. We know that it takes more time to apply the finish to most projects than it did to build it and we love to spend that time making your project look amazing and last a lifetime.

For Unique Rustic Floating ShelfsHappy with Mr. Cooper's work overall. Definitely was worth my time - I have a fantastic custom shelf that is such a near match to what I have already that it's indistinguishable, which I would never have imagined to be possible. Very professional, great finished product and good value for the money in my estimation. I would happily do business with Cooper's Custom Projects again if I had need for another custom piece.

For cutting tableI couldn't be happier with the cutting table Michael made for my sewing studio. From discussing the initial design, to advising what types of wood and finish he thought would best fit my needs, he was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. He was professional, kind, and communicative. Best of all, he makes beautiful furniture! I hope to work with him again.

For Industrial-Mill Inspired DeskThe project was the "Industrial-Mill Inspired Desk" in a custom size. The table top is nice and shipping/delivery to the Boston area was an easy experience. My main concern is that the edges on the legs are quite sharp, even though they were spec'd as being rounded (which the table top is). Michael even took the desk back to his shop after first showing it, to us to take off some of the sharpness. It was hard to be too critical at the second delivery (and the full cost was already paid). So the leg edges are not very rounded, and one of them left a nasty bruise when a family member bumped her head. As well, the bottom of the table has sharp edges and is largely unfinished. That might be appropriate for the back of a cabinet which no one will ever see or touch, but the underside of a desk does come in contact with the human body, and deserves a better finish.

For Small cherry deskMichael is a talented woodworker and a real pleasure to work with. Throughout the project he communicated with me clearly and often, helping me envision exactly the desk I needed, keeping me informed about progress, and asking for my input when needed. The result is terrific, a small desk I will use and appreciate for a very long time. I highly recommend Michael.

For Driftwood coffee table and matching tv standI would highly recommend Michael Cooper as a furniture maker! His professionalism, detailed updates, and perserverance shined through the entire project. The estimate and completion date were right on target. I will happily use his service again :)

For Stained Wood Desk With Specific DimensionsMichael was really a pleasure to work with; he took initiative to understand what I really wanted out of my project, and he provided several updates with photos along the way. The deal he gave me on the desk was phenomenal! He did an excellent job staining and finishing my desk, and everything came out exactly the way I wanted it. I ordered a desk (and was going to buy a pull out tray separately) and he offered to make a surface for the pull out tray that would match the rest of the wood! I would definitely order from him again.

For Industrial-Mill Inspired DeskAwesome desk! Michael made some suggestions to my initial idea such as a cable management system that I didn't even realize I wanted, but now I'm very glad to have! Also provided some guidance on the size of the desk that proved helpful. He responded quickly to my questions and it was finished by the date I had requested. The quality of the piece is excellent and great value too! Highly recommended

For Reclaimed Wood Coffee TableI had an idea in mind for the coffee table we were looking for in our tiny living room -- but wasn't able to find exactly what I wanted in catalogs, and instead, decided to try CustomMade. Michael/Cooper's Custom Projects did an amazing job translating my vision from two photos (each with partial components I wanted to replicate) and my project description and dimensions. He even shared exactly where the (reclaimed) wood came from that was used in the project. He worked with me on stain colors, provided recommendations, and was just all-around a pleasure to work with...because he is local, we picked up the table ourselves (mostly because I wanted to see his workshop!) and he was just as great in person. In short, I would highly recommend Cooper's Custom Projects for any wood-working project, we're extremely happy with the end product!

For Industrial-Mill Inspired DeskI will be actively looking for ways to work with Cooper's Custom Projects again. He's absolutely stellar, and delivered a top-notch product (much better than I could have found retail) on-time and on-budget. I can't say it enough: buy something from him. He's awesome, and you'll be blown away.
