Crepe Myrtle Chandelier

A client bought a manufactured chandelier because the glass balls were exactly the type she wanted, but the armature was too clunky for her tastes. She asked me if I had any ideas to make it more elegant, and I suggested using a natural tree branch as a structure to hang the balls from. We decided on a crepe myrtle branch. I was able to adapt the lighting hardware from the manufactured chandelier to attach to the crepe myrtle branch. We collaborated on many aspects of the design, and she was very pleased with the result.

Fused glass work is my primary focus, but I also work in leaded stained glass, found object sculpture, large abstract watercolors, and acrylic painting. I use glass to make custom lighting fixtures and chandeliers. Most of my material is scrap recycled from local leaded glass businesses. Musical themes predominate, but I am open to other imagery. I am able to incorporate text and personal photographs into my custom work.

In addition to glass, I make custom or reproduction lead castings for use with leaded glass panels.

We are just amazed at the quality of David’s work. From the beginning to the end he exceeded our greatest expectations and created a work of art that will be cherished for generations. This was a project with great emotional significance for our family and David’s approach from the start assured us he understood that and every step of the way he proved it couldn’t have been in better hands. David maintained close contact throughout the process, invited our input and even invited my daughter and her family to his studio to see the project as he was creating it. He went above and beyond every step of the way to assure it was exactly what we wanted. I can’t recommend him highly enough and we definitely plan to utilize his amazing talent in the years to come. Thank you David!

Working with David was an absolute pleasure. He took the time early on to really understand my vision, and made working with him so easy. His constant communication at every step of the way kept us completely involved and allowed us to take control of the project from a distance. He definitely went above and beyond personally driving our piece to Florida for delivery (from Texas!) and has left us with nothing but great things to say about him. I'm already trying to dream up new projects just so we can work with him again and have more than one David Zvanut original in our home!

The shipping delay was the post office's fault, not David's. He kept in touch and communicated almost daily with the post office. The lamp did arrive safely, just much later than we expected. David was wonderful to work with. He answered all my questions and worked very hard to give us just what we wanted, and he did. We are very happy with the result. He does fine work.

I cannot say enough good things about David and the project he completed for us. He is AMAZING...talented, professional, a great communicator and willing to tackle tough projects. He restored a beautiful glass base for an antique globe that has been in my family from the late 1800's. He had to make several attempts and the results are fabulous. I cannot recommend him highly enough. THANK YOU DAVID!!!!

David made 2 panels for us and he was such a pleasure to work with. He gave us plenty of choices and we felt since he is the artist, he would have a good eye for what looks right and he did. We needed specific sizes and sent 2 pics of what we wanted and adjusted the proportions and size to fit perfectly. Both panels came out perfect and we are very happy with them. Unfortunately, they were shipped by UPS (we have seen UPS delivery people throw packages in the past) and sure enough our 2 panels came with slightly broken glass but David took full responsibility, contacted a local craftsmen and had him pick them up for the repairs, sent him the particular glass he needed. No complaints about anything. We will deffinately use David again for our next project.Thank you David L. Zvanut. You are a true artist and have made us very happy. Ross and Fern Bloom
