Custom Knife - Tanto Style - Stainless Steel Blade - Handmade Black Palm Wood Handle

Handle pictured is made of tropical hardwood. I am a woodworker not a metalsmith so I leave the knife blade making to others. My job is to make a beautiful handle for your knife blade. I started with Black Palm wood. I attach the wood handle with 4 concealed pins and epoxy glue. I shape and then sand the wood handle silky smooth with up to 600 grit sand paper. I used a multi step finishing process on this knife that takes several hours. First the handle is coated with tung oil and allowed to dry. This makes the richness of the wood grain and color come out and gives a natural look. Second, I coat the handle with many thin layers of cyanoacrylate adhesive (super glue) which gives a durable and water resistant finish. This is done to fill the pores of the wood and it leaves a smooth surface. Lastly, the handle is buffed with natural waxes. The color and figuring of the handle scales is really unusual and stunning to see, combined with the powerful feel of this knife, makes a really beautiful and functional piece of art. This fixed blade is made commercially by Wood River Knives from 6A high carbon stainless steel. This high-quality knife is 11-1/2" overall length; 6-1/8" blade length, is single edged and has a false edge on the back just for looks! Specialized blade shaped for penetration.
