I needed a little desk to work from home, and I set myself up in my room with this old "piece of junk" that's been floating around our house. Ian and I got to talking about it and upon closer inspection realized it's probably really nice mahogany. He showed me how the top twists to the side and folds open to have a table top double in size. Very cool and simple hardware. I brought it to the shop, got it all in pieces, and started sanding. I don't know why they used to put all this dark "red mahogany" stain on top of actual mahogany 100 years ago… But once I got that and the shellac finish off all the parts, I had a really nice little desk to work on my computer in front of my bedroom window.

I'm a trained woodworker and furniture maker operating in the San Francisco Bay Area. I received my formal training at the world renowned College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking program, right here in Northern California. I build custom pieces from commission and on spec.
My furniture pays close attention to the details; the lines on a piece, the negative spaces, the details that your fingertips find first.
