I am one man woodworking studio and I craft stunning furniture using Live Edge Slabs combined with time honored traditions of woodworking.

My Story:

In 2010, my woodworking journey kicked off as I sought a hands-on career post-college and the birth of my twins. Woodworking was just a fleeting interest back then, but the prospect of adding a custom woodworking dimension to my in-laws’ lumber business prompted a move to my wife’s hometown and taking on a role at Seneca Hardwood Lumber Co. This sparked a passion for making things from wood.

Immersed in the lumber industry at Seneca, I experimented with crafting rustic pieces from freshly milled "live edge" slabs. Progressing from these early experiments at the Seneca Mill, I honed my skills and began making pieces for the Hardwood Mall Showroom. A brief apprenticeship with a skilled Romanian woodworker further refined my approach.

Inspired by George Nakashima, I delved into designing refined live-edge tables, gradually gaining local recognition. A milestone project—kitchen cabinets made from reclaimed lumber and a live edge staircase—underscored my capabilities. The turning point came with a Gothic-style private chapel completed in 2012, a project that exponentially elevated my skills and gave me the confidence to consider woodworking as a potential full-time livelihood.

Striving to realize this dream, I ventured into online selling, facing the challenges of remote client communication and shipping logistics. By 2014, I achieved my goal of woodworking full-time, and let go of my position at the Seneca Mill. In October of 2014, Corey Morgan Wood Works officially emerged as a standalone venture.

Establishing a shop on my property in 2017 marked a new chapter, blending my professional goals with my dreams of integrating work and family life. I also briefly expanded with apprentices. However, returning to solo operations in 2021 reflected my desire to stay intimately connected with the tools and wood, reaffirming my commitment to the craft.
