Tony Bud's Sewing
Custom sewing at its best! I do everything from basic mending to creating your dream wedding dress and everything in between. From cushions, to prom to curtains to Dance costumes, I can do it all.
I started sewing when I was in high school as a way to express my creative side. Both my mom and grandma were seamstresses and I found that I was pretty good at it too. While I never gave it up, life got to be hectic. We lost my younger brother when I was a senior in High School and then with college, getting married and having children it just got set off to the side.
Our first born was named Anthony Peter on January 8th, 2010. My aunt, who is determined to give every child born in my family a nickname, dubbed him Tony Bud (short for Anthony and Peter - my brother who we named him after and who had the nickname Bud - yes by the same aunt). Two months later my husband lost his job. In a way, I guess the saying "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" greatly applied to what would follow in our lives.
As it happened, my next door neighbor at the time needed new outdoor cushions made for her patio. I, in passing, said I knew how to make them. She was elated and went out that day, bought all the materials and wrote me a check for my service. It was at that point that I realized I could turn what was once a hobby into a business.
Later that same year, I started doing craft shows. We didn't have a name picked out yet for the business and when we were asked, my husband and I looked at each other and said "Tony Bud's". Thus Tony Bud's Sewing was born.
It has been 5 years now since I started sewing again on a full time basis. We now have three growing boys and run a "in town" farm with my parents. Our lives are full and very blessed.
I take great pride in what I make. For that reason alone, all of my projects always come with my personal satisfaction guarantee. You will always receive pictures of your item before final payment is due. Based on the measurements you send me, the item is guaranteed to fit. If alterations are necessary, I will cover the cost of said alterations.
I have helped to create stunning dresses for women, great coats for men, as well as something as simple as a blanket for a new mommy to be. I try not to limit myself in what I can do and I am always happy to work with anyone that needs custom work done. I strive to make your dream and vision a reality. I look forward to the years ahead and the many new people that my family and I will meet along the way.
The ratings above are mixed, but my recommendation of Becky's work is absolute. This is why. The experience of working with her wasn't always smooth... I get the impression (though she hasn't said explicitly) that she works from out of her home; combining that with a chronic illness and a fluctuating situation with her assistants, and it was something of a rocky road. She ended up making three things for us -- my wedding dress, and my husband's kilt and jacket; and the jacket didn't get to us in time, though she took heroic measures to try and make it do so. It wasn't her fault really... but if you've got something you *absolutely* can't risk being delayed, I recommend either working with a larger business which can field ups and downs more smoothly, or else giving her a deadline that's a couple of weeks earlier than the day you actually need to wear it. That certainly would've made things less hair-raising for us. That said, Becky is an amazing seamstress, and she made me the most beautiful wedding dress I could imagine. It was even *comfortable*, which is hard to achieve for me because of my own health concerns. Becky worked with me to find a material which was both inexpensive and felt good on my skin, and made my dress out of that. It felt like I was wearing a nightgown... and it *looked* like I was wearing something fit for a Renaissance queen. I've never looked that beautiful in my life, and her work is a big part of it. She also has a huge heart and endless willingness to go the extra mile, which makes up for the occasional communication glitch or time delay. She worked for 36 hours straight to replace an item which had been damaged (by a small child with a scissors) before it could be sent... that was the one which didn't get to us in time, but she certainly tried, above and beyond all expectations. She jumped in with a last-minute order to make it possible for my husband to have the kilt he'd set his heart on, and she generously helped me juggle payment arrangements when our finances were tight. We will be forever grateful. And we'd work with her again in a hot second, because the work she turns out is some of the finest tailoring I've ever had the privilege of wearing. If that means dealing with occasional bumps in the road, she's well worth it.
I had quite the complicated dress made by Tony Bud's Sewing. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the work and would go to her again for future dresses/clothing. Throughout the process, from bidding and contracts, through the delivery she was extremely quick to respond, answered all my questions and delivered a quality product. There were picture updates, texts if I wanted them, and emails. She showed how much she cared about her work and whether I liked it by following up after delivery and after the event that the dress was made for. As for the dress itself, the construction was high quality. The cut and fit were fabulous (she uses live models that approximate the size of the person for whom the dress is being made) which made for the amazing results. I've had a few dresses made overseas before, and they didn't come out like this! I only have 2 complaints about the product. The first is that she glued the beading on. I'm not sure if it would have held up better if the shipping conditions were different, but I had a significant amount come off putting the dress on, and then a few more through the night. The other is that the bust wasn't quite right. However, the dress was extremely complicated in the bust region and both of those problems are being taken care of with zero problem by Tony Bud's Sewing. Even with those hiccups, the quality was so high and the fit elsewhere so perfect that I couldn't really complain. I definitely wore "the" dress that night and had very many compliments. I give them 5 stars for everything with 4 for value simply because of the 2 issues aforementioned.
I am VERY happy with the outcome of my project with Becky. The coat I made looked exactly how I wanted it. Becky is very patient and will take her time to make sure you get what you want with your creation. There was a little size error but she was more than happy to alter it. I would definitely recommend her to anybody looking to make their inspiration and imagination come true!
Extremely happy with the final product! Deadline was not met which was stressful, but she did get them shipped to me by the beginning of the wedding week. The dresses fit, and matched! They were lovely! I was nervous using custom made for the first time, but glad I did!
While I was very pleased with Becky and her ability to create an amazing dress from a single photo, there were a couple snags along the way. Unforeseen weather conditions delayed shipment on a holiday weekend, so my dress arrived only days before my wedding. There was also an issue with her assistant which was resolved. Overall, her custom-made gown was ravishing, and the center of many conversations- even after the big day. If you simply scroll thru her photos, then you will see she is accomplished in many styles. If yours design/idea doesn't fit in with any of the photos posted, I would encourage you to let her to add it to her portfolio! Thank you Becky!
