This stunning table is crafted from a single slab of cherry and features a sliding dovetail cherry breadboard. The slab is from a 300 years old historic tree on the grounds of Princeton University. The base is made from vintage maple heart beams and features intricate hand cut joinery. The piece is finished off with a hand rubbed tung oil finish. The design is inspired by the works of Whaton Esherick and the American Craft Movement. The complex geometry was achieved by rendering the piece first in solid works and 3d printing a prototype. Balancing the hi-tech approach to the design phase, the piece was crafted only using Japanese hand tools and chisels to craft the joints. The base features sublet Maple inlay to reinforce the natural checking running through the massive timbers of the base. The approximate dimensions are 35wx85lx30.5h making it perfectly spacious for 8 people.
