Mahogany, Milk Paint, wax. This is a fun art/sculpture piece I made. It was a good exploration of a small space. After making it I feel that it could have been much larger. The shape could even be applied to a larger, more utilitarian, wall hanging. Would have shelves around it, and possibly a mirror in the center. Maybe even alter the proportions and have that shape encompass a dresser…

I am a young designer/craftsman living in the middle of the woods. I got my BFA in woodworking and furniture design from The School for American Crafts, part of Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, NY. I studied under Andy Buck and Richard Tannen. It is a fantastic program that bestows technical ability and encourages creative exploration. I am well versed in furniture construction, and dealing with the issues of wood movement. Bent wood creations, drawer construction, steam bending…….all fun things to incorporate into a piece of furniture. I love making pieces that are specific to the personal desires of their keepers.
A guide to the best items from the best makers and the stories behind them.
