Artistic/sculptural chair with a great gesture. Painted, hand-shaped. Upholstered seat. I made this at school. A great textural exploration for me. I'd love to pursue it further. The back of this chair is not the most practical, but an upholstered back would make it more comfortable. Without the back it could make a nice stool/settee or bench if stretched out….

I am a young designer/craftsman living in the middle of the woods. I got my BFA in woodworking and furniture design from The School for American Crafts, part of Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, NY. I studied under Andy Buck and Richard Tannen. It is a fantastic program that bestows technical ability and encourages creative exploration. I am well versed in furniture construction, and dealing with the issues of wood movement. Bent wood creations, drawer construction, steam bending…….all fun things to incorporate into a piece of furniture. I love making pieces that are specific to the personal desires of their keepers.
