This solid red oak blanket chest uses classic frame-and-panel construction with mortise and tenon joinery. A wood pin hinge mechanism allows the lid to stand open at just past 90 degrees without any braces and the bottom is solid aromatic cedar. Traditionally, chests like these were used to house linens and textiles as they were highly valued. They're extremely versatile and can house pretty much anything! I've used a combination of dyes and wax (beeswax and carnuba) to achieve rich, contrasting reds and browns. The chest measures 26" high by 38" long by 18" deep.
