Created from locally harvested Ponderosa pine, we designed and constructed this heirloom quality occasional table according to photos and measurements taken from the original found in an antique shop somewhere around Taos/ Santa Fe. The designer provided us with measurements, photos and notes as to construction details. That kind of detail is a rarity in today's market. Her client wanted a true reproduction of the piece in a larger format to fit her needs. The table is 30" wide X 18" deep X 30" tall. All of the joinery is true to the period, with interlocking through mortise joints on the top skirt, through mortise joints attaching the stretchers to the legs and an interesting structure of through mortise joints attaching the top to the skirting. There is one, full depth drawer made using the crude single dovetail joinery found in the original. The only hardware attached to the piece is the hand forged black iron drop pull, also true to the period. We treated all the surfaces with hand planes and scrapers, using little or no sandpaper, unless absolutely necessary. The finisher then hand rubbed all of the surfaces with maroon scotchbrite pads to replicate the softening of a hand planed and scraped surface over a long period of time. In order to be as authentic as possible from start to finish, we applied our own pigmented linseed oil and turpentine as stain, with a Japan dryer as accelerant; and finished the piece with amber shellac and dark wax. The end user was a discerning collector of Southwest and Mexican antiques. She was extremely pleased with the authenticity of the piece. If you are a collector of authentic antique furniture, and wish to have a piece or suite of pieces designed and fashioned to match your originals, the craftsmen at A&E have the expertise to fulfill your visions, dreams and needs.

For Mook Jong AKA Wooden ManJosh of A and E Fine Woodworking is a master at what he does. While this project suffered a few setbacks in regards to time since he has never made one before the result is more than worth the money I sunk into into it. I could not be more happy with the results and I am more than eager to learn how to properly use the Jong as soon as I can. It is so large, strong and well built I shall be passing it on to my grandchildren.

For Butter Churn PaddleJoshua and his team at A&E are fantastic people to work with: friendly, engaging and professional, they were excited about my (admittedly smallish) project and treated me like I was their number one customer. Not only did they create an amazing replica paddle for my antique butter churn, they were able to advise me in which wood would be best for the application and kept mindful that this needed to be a food-safe end product. They were communicative during the entire process, even sending photos along the way. When I received my paddle, I was surprised to find that they'd sent two! Now I can go on churning butter forever! The quality of work was amazing and the turnaround was great. I'll definitely be going back to A&E for my next project. Thanks Guys!
