A Wooden Platter For Serving Bread
This is a Beech Platter that a client asked me to make for his restaurant. It is intended to be used to serve bread and chips. He wanted something that would be sturdy to use again and again but wanted it small enough to keep a small table of two uncrowded. The client wanted something like birch wood, I fortunately had plenty of beech. Also the Client wanted a fixed log on the platter with slots cut in it so that large vegetable chips could be placed upright in the slots.

Drew was very attentive to our desire to have a very active live edge on this piece. He made a sincere effort to identify what we had in mind, and sent several pictures of potential logs for our comment. When we ultimately narrowed down three logs, we were undecided between two of them. He went the other extra mile and finished both of them, and brought both so we could choose between the two. Both were absolutely beautiful and was a difficult decision to make. A wonderful predicament to be in. The whole process was a complete joy, never felt any pressure at all, in fact quite the opposite! I would most highly recommend Drew and his work. This was my first time on custommade.com, after several attempts to find my piece, or someone capable of making it, and I'm so thankful I got to work with such a wonderful artist. From the beginning of the project, he was very friendly, helpful, communicative, and determined to make sure the piece turned out the way I hoped.
