Shattered Chess Board Display Piece
It was a lot of fun making this "broken" chess board for Lynn to display her over sized chess pieces. With a few photos of the pieces and some dimensions Lynn and I landed on a color scheme and we got the project rolling. Board is approximately 15" x 15" with 4" squares. The veneer playing field is Cherry & Maple on one side; Figured Ash & Ovangkol on the other. Edge banding is Cherry, Maple, and Walnut banding. A very fun project and a clever way to display her giant chess pieces.

Our focus on furniture happened many years ago (25+) as a result of some left-over lumber, the need for a bench by the backdoor, and a frugal resourceful nature that told us to give it a try. The bench turned out beautiful (we still use it every day), the experiment turned to a hobby, the hobby to an obsession, the obsession to a journey… We design and build custom furniture on commission. Our shop specializes in made to order custom furniture specifically for individual clients.

I had a lot of demands for this table. It needed to fit into a small NY apartment and expand to seat 8. I needed sufficient leg room (space from the apron to the floor) to use it as a desk and cross my legs.
It also needed to blend with my sort-of-vintage decor.
The final product is GORGEOUS and does everything I need it to. The expansion/engineering part of the table is smooth and elegant.
Amy was patient and sent me numerous finish samples as I decided on the final color of the table. Communication throughout the process was timely and photos were provided in various stages of development.
I would definitely work with Amy again if I ever need another custom piece.

For Country Dining Chairs5.0My brother and his family recently moved into a new house and were in need of finally upgrading their dining room table set.
