Solid Hickory Bar Top / Island Top
A beautiful kitchen should have an amazing island top. This hickory top was developed as the perfect compliment to the clients granite countertops and hickory cabinetry. We used a unique process to build the top long, and then cut the ends to fold under and glue back on to create a traditional 2+" countertop edge, the sides were capped with 2" hickory to finish the top off. The hole top sits on an MDF plate atop the cabinetry to allow for expansion and afford the top room to breath with the seasons. This top can be made in a variety of wood species and sizes. Our focus on furniture happened many years ago (25+) as a result of some left-over lumber, the need for a bench by the backdoor, and a frugal resourceful nature that told us to give it a try. The bench turned out beautiful (we still use it every day), the experiment turned to a hobby, the hobby to an obsession, the obsession to a journey… We design and build custom furniture on commission. Our shop specializes in made to order custom furniture specifically for individual clients.
