
Three-legged stool with hand-turned cherry stretchers. Legs are 10-sided solid white ash. Deeply sculpted, hand-carved "tractor" seats in solid butternut. Reminiscent of Windsor-style chair seats. Mortise and wedged tenon joinery throughout for long-term strength and stability. Stool seats are available in a natural finish or traditional milk paint colors. Original design. Available in varying heights and other materials on request, with additional surcharge depending on the wood.

Richard Holmquist opened his woodworking studio in 1984, applying a rich background in architectural design and wooden boat building to fine custom furniture-making.
A sincere appreciation for many styles and periods of furniture is demonstrated by Richard's solid, durable construction and unpretentious craftsmanship. He selectively incorporates traditional characteristics into his original furniture, investing great pride in the artistry of each piece. His artful combination of rich material characteristics creates dynamic unity of form.
Each of Richard's custom designs evolves to reflect the needs and desires of the client. Careful selection and preparation of materials along with time-honored joinery techniques ensure furniture that is both elegant and long-lasting. Wood surfaces are painstakingly hand planed and finished in a manner which best exemplifies the natural beauty and use of each piece.
