These broken china mosaic headboards are made from vintage and modern china. I hand-cut the china to create patterns and contrasts that echo quilt patterns. Most headboards have standard rail slots or for best results, it can be hung on the wall at the desired height to maximize displaying the mosaic. I can make different sizes (twin, full, queen) and make the pattern more or less intricate to fit your budget. Adding a matching foot-board is also an option. The style can be very country chic, or I can create something that is modern. All examples are sold. Frequently Asked Questions 1. Are there sharp edges that will snag my bedding, pillows, etc? The answer is no. I hand-cut the china to lie flat and once grouting is complete, the surface is textured, but more similar to a tile floor or wall. 2. Aren't they heavy? The answer is not really. Even the largest mosaic I have made wasn't too heavy for me to lift by myself. The surface is almost always a wooden headboard and with the addition of the china and grout, it not much more than a piece of furniture made from MDF (wood composite). 3. Isn't shipping expensive? It tops out around $300 for the largest thing I have shipped. I use a contract shipper.

I make broken china mosaics from loved and vintage china dishes. If you have broken a special piece, I can make it into a new form that you will enjoy for years to come. I also have a large selection of china that I have collected in various colors and patterns to create your dream piece. I have over 10 years experience making mosaics that are functional or art pieces, for indoor or outdoor use. I also have a selection of pieces already made for purchase or inspiration.
I also do installations and public art. You can see my work at the Conrad Hilton in Washington DC or at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
