This is a broken china mosaic mailbox. I started with a standard steel mailbox from my local home-center and broken china in shades of blue: blue willow, blue onion, blue danube, etc. I hand-cut each piece and arranged it like a puzzle on the entire surface of the mailbox. I use construction adhesive which dries with some "give" to accomodate many weather conditions. After this dries, I used charcoal grout to fully cover the piece. When this cured, I used a grout sealer which will repel moisture and cause weather to roll off the mosaic. I can re-create a similar look for your project, but pieces of china will vary in size, color and pattern. I will use blue willow and other blue transfer ware patterns as seen in the photos. This listing is for this look only. If you prefer a different color or pattern for your mailbox, please inquire. This piece can be mounted on a standard pole or board mounting and the holes have been left clear to drill into the base.

I make broken china mosaics from loved and vintage china dishes. If you have broken a special piece, I can make it into a new form that you will enjoy for years to come. I also have a large selection of china that I have collected in various colors and patterns to create your dream piece. I have over 10 years experience making mosaics that are functional or art pieces, for indoor or outdoor use. I also have a selection of pieces already made for purchase or inspiration.
I also do installations and public art. You can see my work at the Conrad Hilton in Washington DC or at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
