Celtonorasian Chair

$5,000

A chair that grew from poplar scraps rescued from the trash pile on a luxury home site in Texas. It kicked around for a few years in a basic rough fit form, the carving began as an expression of symbols that are from my heritage and inspirations. The "stacked arm" came from the "damn it " moment when I realized that the original set were uncomfortably low, thus becoming what we in the trade call a "design element". The base color comes from salal berries, and walnut husks. The brighter pigments come from pastel, scraped into a sea shell, and applied dry with a brush. Several coats of oil are then applied with an antique atomizer, then a coat of pigmented paste wax.

Hand made artisan furniture and accessories, architectural elements, and sculptural pieces. I locally source my material, or reclaim it whenever possible. All of my carving is done by hand.
I am located on Anderson Island, WA. and yes it is beautiful. Many of the finishes are made from local barks and berries. And I enjoy incorporating oddments found lying about.
