One of my most treasured works, the "5 Amigos." These colorful characters and all their detail have been hand burned into a canvas of pine with a pyrography pen. Each one is individual with varying designs and colors. The backsplash of pine has been concealed with a generous coat of red mahogany while the natural pine remains on the faces. The vibrant sugar skull designs are meticulously painted in around the burnings with acrylic while the whole piece is wrapped in a sustaining layer of gloss finish.

Pyrography was introduced to Julie by her grandmother Maxine, who also had a love of nature and art. Pyrography soon became a calming and rewarding expression of her artistic notions. When first working with wood, Julie discovered it was an uncommon medium among other local artists. This intrigue soon led to nature inspired artwork utilizing Julie's ideas, along with client's ideas for custom orders. Sharing a sense of beauty and style with her customers, she enjoys being driven by their input as she creates unconventional pieces. Bold textures, colors and designs are formed by her own unique processes. These methods include pyrography, carving, painting, staining, glossing and much more.
