Sifter Spotlight

$140

I've created a line of unique spotlight lamps created with antique flour sifters or tins on top of vintage tripods. The idea seemed quirky and novel to me at first, but the functionality of this light arrangement is quite amazing. It's hard to understand until you have one for a week or so. It's a desk lamp, a floor lamp, a spotlight, a decoration. It's everything. And it's made out of old kitchenware! Kind of funky. Super handy. The sifter is fitted with a click-on, click-off light socket and a long, salvaged, vintage, gold wire. The back of the sifter is formed with a piece of reclaimed wood finished with oil. In the case The tripod arrangement allows you to change the height, direction and pitch of the light as you would a camera. The lamp comes with an energy-efficient globe bulb which gives the lamp a warm appeal without heating the sifter's metal shell. Each one of these pieces is a completely unique, one-of-a-kind lamp. It originates from hours spent scouring antique & thrift stores looking for the perfect parts. Let me help you create your own special spotlight today!

Spacebarn is about re-creation, re-use and resourcefulness.

All of the products sold by this workshop have incorporated used materials from some other life. They come from attics, basements, flea markets, antique stores and the dumpster. Additionally, my work as a contract carpenter allows me to salvage many pieces of wood and hardware in the demolition phase of my projects, These materials have a lot of life left, they have stories to tell. Spacebarn tells those stories. I know where every product that goes into my pieces comes from. Everything from the wood to the nails and screws, the glue and the finishes. It has all been procured from reused sources or local businesses. This is important to my philosophy of creation.

Spacebarn is about creating works in a responsible and sustainable way.

Each creation from Spacebarn is an original and unique piece created solely by the owner. Each piece has been looked and worked over many times. With woodworking pieces, a lot of time has been spent sanding and planning the wood – with hand tools as well as power tools – to gain that original feel of the wood that can’t be achieved with large factory planners, table saws and scroll saws.
