For this stick I used an antique bronze parrot that I imported from England. The Parrot was manufactured in the late 1800s or early 1900s. The late, great Will Rodgers was an incredible man with a brilliant mind. I ran across this sound bit of advice many years ago and thought it was worthy of being carved into this one inch oak shaft. "Live in such a way that you would not be ashamed of selling your parrot to the town gossip" Shaft Material: Oak Handle Material: Bronze Length: 39 inches

I retired from the USAF after 28 years and now I make canes, walking sticks, jewelry and art pieces full time. The Quotable Walking Stick is a concept that I started. I find rare, unusual, and/or antique items to make into walking stick handles. Then I find an appropriate quote from literature, movies, music or elsewhere that I feel compliments the user.
Quotes have always been an important part of my life. It is comforting to know that others we admire think along the same lines as we do. I hope you will find one that speaks to you.

    Working with Michael Altom has been thee best! From start to finish he walked me through better ideas and kept me updated with every move. A real gentleman. He gave me just what I wanted and more! I just cant believe it. My friend has ALS and has a very difficult time walking and so I asked Michael to carve my friends life accomplishment on a walking stick or cane.     I am MORE than happy with my walking sticks. Michael is so very talented. I ordered one for hiking and one for everyday use. Both have mermaids sitting on them. They are beautiful and very much worth the price.
