Walking Stick" The Warrior Shaft
Topping this solid oak staff is an expended 20mm shell that is 4 inches long. The shell does not have any manufacture markings but it was used in military operations at an undisclosed location. In the shaft I have carved the warrior speech inspired from the movie "The Outlaw Josey Wales" that I have paraphrased to suit my needs: "There is iron in your words for all to see. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from warriors. My words carry the same iron. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life. " This is the perfect staff for any warrior, man of woman. After 28 years in the military, I know the value of people who have iron in their words and what a rare quality that is in today's world. I find rare, unusual, and/or antique items to make into walking stick handles. Then I find an appropriate quote from literature, movies, music or elsewhere that I feel compliments the user.

May 28, 2013WOW. Our experience with Michael Altom was really incredible. He is so passionate about his work, professional, timely, and so kind! We needed 21 very roughly carved handles turned into 21 finished and stained canes. We had a big order and a really tight schedule, and Michael really went above and beyond to make sure our canes were beautifully done within our timeframe. Michael consistently checked in with pictures and ideas so we could see where he was going and make any minor changes along the way. He is so accommodating, and the group next year will also be ordering canes through him! It was such a pleasure to work with Michael, and we are so happy with our amazing canes!
