Metal cut-out of a black bear mounted in a tree. The bear was painted in a realistic style using oil-paints. The client wanted to create a little "Smoky Mountains" in her backyard. The bear did already attract many kids in her neighborhood.
Hans Droog
Fine artist and craftsman, designing and creating custom furniture and artwork, plus specialty, one-of-a-kind projects in wood and metal.
Originally from the Netherlands, and educated there in the fine arts, I have been working as a fine art painter and commercial artist in the St. Louis area for 25 years. Over that time I produced numerous commissioned works and have shown my art at many solo and group shows. Additionally, I was hired by Anheuser-Busch to create the artwork for several collectible beer steins and I have created original artwork for the St. Louis Zoo's Zoofari fundraiser for many years. I also have received commissions for animal artwork from Ralston Purina, Sears and several other notable companies.
In addition to commissioned artwork, I am self-educated in wood and metal work, and have worked as a fine wood furniture builder and finisher. I particularly enjoy working on these unique specialty projects to help clients make their dreams become realities.
For many years, I worked with a St. Louis contractor to design, build and install upscale kitchen and bathrooms. Also I have been hired by numerous bed-and-breakfasts in the Missouri Wine Country town of Hermann, Missouri to design, build and install their unique projects.
I hope you will enjoy browsing my work—perhaps I can create a special piece just for you.
