Wedding Portrait Drawing From Photograph

Unique portrait drawing with pen and ink. This black and white line drawing is from a photograph of a lovely couple on their wedding day. It measures 18"x 24" and was given from the husband to his wife as an anniversary gift. The flowers at their wedding included the classically beautiful Calalily as well as the fascinating tropical Bird of Paradise. I incorporated these flowers into the drawing (see her hair and his jacket lapel.) My drawings evoke an ethereal style inspired by nature and many other motifs such as art nouveau and foreign textiles. I draw the subject first in pencil from a photograph provided, and then slowly find the overlaying forms in ink. The pencil is then later erased, revealing an element of natural beauty that delves deeper than mere surface appearance.
