Redwood Root Burl Keepsake Box
My brother in law found this redwood root burl on his property up in Humbolt County a few years back and last time I was up there I noticed he hadn't done anything with it so as I was leaving he gave it to me. It took a lot of pondering as to what to do with it so it sat in my shop for several months before I decided to cut into it to see what was inside. I was pleased to say the least. The wood is light as it is brilliant. I book-matched a few pieces for top and bottom, front and rear and both sides. After a fair amount of fitting and sanding I put three coats of clear semi-gloss poly in it that just set it on fire! I'm thinking it would make a fine urn now that I look at it.

Jul 6, 2015Project was delivered on time. Mark kept me informed on the progress of work and was very professional. Mark was also very patient with the questions and changes I had to the cabinet. Very happy with the final product. One note -- opt to use other methods of delivery as I used fed ex and there was slight damage to one of the wine holders - easily fixed with glue but annoying (not the first time this has happened with orders or worst experience I've had with federal express). Nevertheless, the cabinet is a great piece of furniture that is also a work of art. I'll post pictures soon.
