We make one of these benches each year for auction at the local TU benefit. Usually crafted from local and historical reclaimed materials, this years bench was put together from a set of Studebaker Bros. wagon springs (we found the axle cap) and wagon tire iron retrieved from the Big Blackfoot river and 120 year old sunken timbers salvaged from the same location on the Blackfoot's banks in Bonner, MT at the site of the Bonner dam. The beams in the photos are two 16" x 16" x18' monsters that were ganged together with 5 wrought iron bolts still showing the forge welds on the bolt heads. The beams were in the log pool in the river and were anchor points for dividing logs by species and size before they were fed through the mill. Photos of the beams as they were removed from the river and after the iron was removed, ends removed and they were finally separated after 120 years.

I was absolutely blown away with the finished product I received from Hellgate Forge! Darin Wicks was quick to respond to my custom fireplace poker request, easy to communicate with and I'm thrilled with his craftsmanship! I'm so excited to surprise my husband with this awesome poker for Christmas!
The railing is a piece of art and I couldn't be happier
I bought a Rr spike letter opener from this guy and man was i impressed when it arrived! it was bad a## and i love it!
My experience with Darin of Hellgate Forge was exceptionally professional. He was very accommodating to my request and did not mind adjusting the fine details for a price more than fair. I strongly recommend him for any similar projects requiring a skilled blacksmith.
Hellgate Forge made some beautiful square pulls for a two custom cabinets I had designed for a client. The pulls will just put this cabinet above my expectations. They look fabulous and Darin at Hellgate was very helpful, professional and worked very hard to make everything the way I wanted. I couldn't think of a better process. Thanks Darin!!
