Puddled Wrought Iron

$1

Like the charcoal iron of early man, puddled wrought iron was the steel of the industrial revolution. A wood grain appearance results in the refining process where silica is captured intermittently in the iron. Not manufactured currently, items forged from puddled wrought iron provide an added texture and appeal over mild steel. Handle detail shows a material twist that adds an extra element to the flow and shape. Bolt heads and hook are 150 year old forgings showing grain (in the curve of the hook) and the forge weld from wrapping material around round stock to make the bolt head. If you look closely you can see the weld in the corner.
