Breakfast Nook
A customer approached me with this concept, and I was really excited to tackle it. I was able to complete this table with built in benches, and two floating benches in about 2 months. The design constraints were pretty high, since I was working with multiple angles. The table is made from quatersawn ash, with a walnut inlay around the rim. It is a seven sided figure which looks to me like a stretched shield. The benches are built in to the alcove and rest on a ledger in back and legs in the front. The base was designed to give high stability to this 100" long table, while keeping the structure as far from everyone's knees as possible. The finish is a few coats of stain, and spray on conversion varnish. I have many more pictures of this table if you are interested.
