Baby Portrait
This is one of three child portraits made for a political protest mixed-media piece. Each child portrait began as a photo and was transformed into a beading chart. The glass seed beads were hand sewn using peyote stitch, an off-loom bead weaving technique, into a unique portrait. These contemporary artworks are an alternative to a traditional painted portrait.

Sue Hicke specializes in beaded portraits. The portraits are stitched with tiny glass seed beads from Japan. Each design is unique; the weave is traditional peyote-stitch, an off-loom bead weaving technique. Cost is determined by the size of the portrait.
