Modern Butcher Block Top Desk With Dovetail Drawer And Cherry Cross Style Legs
We thoroughly enjoyed building this modern style butcher block top desk. It has one central dovetailed drawer as well as two cross leg style cherry legs. The dimensions are 32 inches wide x 56 inches long x 32 inches high. It was selected by the customer for us to build for he and his wife. The butcher block top is made of cherry, hickory and red oak. The skirt and drawer front are also made of red oak and the legs are five inches wide and cut with a dado so that each leg interlocks for support. The legs and skirting are stained and the desktop is natural in coloration/grain with multiple coats of a very durable varnish on all of the desk. For over four decades, we have enjoyed making award winning fine art, including oil painting, custom furniture and leather work.
Claudia studied the old masters styles of drawing and painting at The Atelier in Minneapolis, MN. She paints with feeling and passion with a specialization in two particular styles of combined impressionistic and abstract oil painting as well as still life. Her style has a bit of a whimsical feeling to it and her goal is to show the joy that she feels when she sees how God has created nature that she paints.
Denny uses lumber from local suppliers and saw mills. He has chosen to fill a market niche by utilizing reclaimed or lumber from trees from his customers that they find to be sentimental or historical in their families.
He looks for opportunities to work with clients who desire a new and fresh design in their furniture and leather work. All of these areas allow for a way to fill a need that often is not available in the retail market. For example, the picture of the kitchen table made of oak and granite were not available either in size or of materials and led to the chance to develop them both for personal use as well as for availability to customers who are interested.
Leather and wood furniture are especially great projects to work on with our clientele and we look forward to each persons ideas and input as we build together.

I can't believe what beautiful craftsmanship - the dovetail joints were so intricately placed and the beeswax finish gives it a smooth, clean look. Denny was absolutely wonderful to work with - very professional and everything was done in a timely manner. It was safely packaged and arrived perfectly. It is so nice to have this handmade caddy to put our tools in - (so much better than the old plastic container)!
