Fire is my process. I alter, distort, and combine metal to make jewelry using the breath of Hephaestus. Inspiration comes from mythology, fantasy, or ancient mystery, combined with Rococo shapes and Abstract forms. I begin a piece with a grandiose concept of general structure and specifically chosen materials. Reticulated, fused, or manipulated metal is incorporated with cast or found objects and uncommon stones. These components are assembled as though they are puzzle pieces waiting to be made whole. The included elements are specifically selected for what is essential to complete the form.
I transform base metals into gaudy harmony that invites the viewer into the microcosmic world of each individual work. My pieces are over the top fluid spectacles. They are manifestations of instinct, intuition, and imagination. Absurd abstraction creates other worldly ornamentation.

Alessandro Morosani, better known as Sonz, grew up in a rural section of northwestern Connecticut.  His first encounter with silversmithing took place in his senior year of high school at Proctor Academy.  Later, when Sonz moved to Asheville, NC, he found classes at Earthspeak Arts.  Sonz then enrolled in the jewelry program at Pratt Institute in 2008.  He was awarded the 2012 prize for Outstanding Use of Stones and Design Excellence.
