Kemp Chessboard

$285

I was looking for a different way of building a chessboard. I really love to use fasteners in my designs, so this naturally came together. There are over 300 pieces of hardware holding the tiles down. This combination of hardware and wooden tiles gives the board a lot of weight as well as stiffness and durability. The material is white oak and walnut veneer. Veneers cut really well on the laser cutter that I use and leave a nice clean black edge. The end result is a combination of retro and modern. There are elements of art-deco (the concentric radius on the corners) as well as steampunk (using bronze and stainless hardware) and a smattering of other styles in between. The end result is a gorgeous chessboard that is unlike any other. Customization can be in the form of engravings on the wood. Price will vary based on the complexity of the engraving.
