Ivan Tancredi, owner of Tancredi Design is a native Italian, born in Milano, Italy. He brings much of his architectural training and creative spirit to life in his metal art work. He received formal blacksmith training in Santa Fe, NM from Frank Turley, the “Grandfather of Blacksmithing” in the United States in 2005. With those skills under his belt, Ivan endeavored on his own path with what he learned in blacksmithing and began creating his own designs, combining the traditional methods of hand-forged iron work with more modern techniques and multi-media platforms.
Of the various tools Ivan employs, his favorites include the use of coloring metal with patinas & chemicals, air-brushing, mosaics, and grinding metal for alternative effects.
His repertoire is mainly interior décor such as mirrors, wall art, tables, candle holders etc. but he is constantly inspired with new ideas & techniques so those creative wings continue to fly! He has also experimented with garden art to bring a bright splash of color to the outdoors with bold metal flowers & butterflies as well as small entry gates flowing with vines and leaves to blend well with any garden. He creates the designs himself and does most of the fabrication as well.
Ivan’s work is a mix of fine contemporary handmade craft, using a combination of traditional techniques, modern forms and technologies to create distinctive pieces of metal and wrought iron work.
