Mossy Dragon Sculpture

Age has made this tall forest dragon powerful but slow. She moves so slow that the moss grows on her body. Blue-green flowers grow amongst the moss. Her skin has grown white with age and shimmering spots of bronze mar her with imperfections. Her antlers have turned the same lovely shade of bronze and a vine of great, shimmering leaves decorates them like jewels on a crown. She has one foot poised in the air, ready to take a step. These dragons can be found protecting the ancient, old-growth forests. *********************************** This clay dragon made of durable, air-drying stone clay sculpted over a wire armature. Every last bit of this sculpture was created by hand without the use of any molds. The craters on her back were added one at a time. The leaves adorning her antlers are made of polymer clay, each carefully sculpted and painted by hand. The moss is sculpted and textured with a small, fine brush. The chain in her antlers has been glued in place to make it a permanent part of the sculpture. ********************************* These dragon beasts are my favorites to make, but due to their time-consuming process to make them, they are very limited in number. I used artist grade acrylics to paint her with, in white, shimmering bronze and several shades of green. She is antiqued with sepia-tinted graphite paint and sealed with several layers of acrylic varnish. Her eyes have an extra layer of satin varnish for extra shine! This clay sculpture is signed and dated on the bottom of one foot. This beast is 7.5 inches tall, 7.25 inches long, and 5 inches wide at the tips of her antlers. The leaves range from about half an inch to an inch long.

I make odd and fantastic creatures that hail from strange lands and faraway places.

My sculptures are handmade and all one of a kind. No molds are ever used! I use ceramic, polymer and air-dry clays to make my creatures, then I glaze or paint them to get just the right look.

I also make handmade jewelry as well as acrylic paintings.

Please inquire if you would like a custom item made.

Due to the unique nature of my items, I am unable to make an exact reproduction of a previously sold item.
