Bird Painting, Wildlife Painting: Arizona Native Bird, Chipping Sparrow Acrylic On Canvas

$150

This 11" by 14", acrylic painting, is of a Chipping Sparrow, a bird native to Arizona. The painting is based on a photograph by wildlife photographer Stan Tekiela (in his "Birds of Arizona Field Guide"), who has given me permission to use his bird photos as a basis for my bird paintings. The Chipping Sparrow has a bright white chest with a rusty patch at the top of his head. He is perched on a limb, which has just begun to bloom, but the day is cool and, perhaps still snowy - maybe a late Spring cold snap. I used cool colors: blues and greens, with white to give this illusion of a cold day. I basecoated the bird in dark complementary colors, and then built up the bird's final colors, layer by layer, with thin strokes, which resulted in the feathery, tuft-like texture. The canvas has been sprayed with clear acrylic gloss varnish to keep the colors bright, and has been signed by the artist. This painting ships flat in a no-bend cardboard box. Shipping and handling costs $25. This painting is ready made; no customizations are available. However, if you have a favorite bird and want one painted on a tree limb, tree trunk, fence, bucket, or some similar object, then let me know and I can custom paint the image for you.
