Funny Horse Painting - Large Black Horse Painting (Oil) w/ Green and Silver Polka Dots- 48 x 24 Inches - 10% Benefits Horse Rescue This funny horse painting ("Chaps") is part of my Equamore Horse Series, celebrating National Horse Protection Day 2013, at the Ashland Art Center. It is one of seven, and the largest painting, of horses from our local horse sanctuary. This original art would look beautiful in a child's bedroom, nursery or as a fun conversation piece in an entry or living area. It is currently on exhibit at the art center and is available for shipment on April 1. Ten percent of the sales price will be donated to Equamore Horse Sanctuary in Ashland, OR, to assist with horse care and rescue. Details: * Original oil painting * 48 x 24 inches tall * Gallery wrapped 1.5 inch profile canvas with painted edges * Dark apple green with silver metallic polka dot background * Black/Dark Brown Horse (looks black) * Metallic paint was also used to enhance the effect of the soft upper part of the nose * Certificate of Authenticity which includes the story of this horse on the back of the painting About Chaps: Chaps is a Black Bay Moran/Arab Cross Gelding; he was surrendered to Equamore Horse Sanctuary after severe neglect left him with an open, necrotic wound the size of a dinner plate on his left flank. His owner refused to call a vet, and he was trailered to Equamore by a neighbor. The wound was debrided, stitched and bandaged. Drains were put in for twice daily irrigation; and although he developed high fevers and required months of constant care, Chaps fully recovered, with only a scar. About Equamore: Equamore is a non-profit horse rescue and sanctuary in Southern Oregon, approximately 5 miles from the downtown area of Ashland. There are currently 44 rescue horses being cared for at Equamore, along with 6 privately boarded horses. It is a beautiful place with wonderful volunteers, and the need for funds continues to grow due to the economic situation of some horse owners. If you are traveling to Ashland, you should definitely take a tour at Equamore and see all the wonderful horses they have rescued and rehabilitated back to health. I am an oil painter, focused completely on animal paintings - pets and other animals. I paint from photographs (they must be yours/mine/or others without copyright issues) in a realistic style on bold backgrounds, and enjoy capturing the amusing and endearing expressions of the animal. I departed a 20-year corporate career in 2006 to spend time on volunteer activities and art. I am now the proud mom to four former shelter dogs (a side benefit to volunteering at the shelter) and paint from my home studio (a remodeled carriage house in my backyard) and at the Ashland Art Center on Main Street.

Ten percent of my sales are donated to local animal rescue groups and charities where I am a volunteer - Jackson County Animal Shelter, Sanctuary One, and Equamore Horse Sanctuary. I am also a member of HeARTs Speak, the Ashland Gallery Association and The Canine Art Guild.
