About the Artist

Jackie Maloney is a watercolor painter based in Hampton Bays, NY. Her whimsical, bright & quirky illustrations are inspired by her love of the beach, fresh food & spending time in nature. Jackie’s body of work includes wall art for private home collections, papergoods, and hand painted ceramics, all of which she has sold internationally. She holds a BFA in Illustration from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, MD. In the spring of 2015, she completed illustrating a cookbook featuring New England recipes entitled, The Shelter Island 36 by Chef Jason Casey.

The Process

All of Jackie’s images begin with an idea (”light bulb” moments tend to come to her while she is running, vaccuuming, etc.). Next she creates a pencil sketch, which she then paints using watercolors & colored inks. Depending on the image, Jackie will either use a brush or pen & ink to add the final details with Sumi ink. All pieces are then finalized using varying levels of digital media.
