Children's chairs painted to suit the child become family treasures. This chair has wonderful Trompe L'oeil marbles and a leaf on the seat. The train painted across the back-rest is both simple and detailed. The entire chair is painted with shades of blue, grey and yellow. Every piece I do is hand painted and unique. I will help you select the best color scheme and personalize the chair to tailor it to the child. Unique items such as these are at the direction of the client. I can use your chair or one I procure for you, which will of course affect the cost.

I am Sue Banks, a self-taught artist who works in craft acrylics, usually on surfaces that do not require framing, such as furniture, household objects, and stones. I work on anything from vintage pieces to unfinished new items. Many of the projects shown here are examples of past work. Each project is always unique, and most are custom ordered. I work on items supplied by the client or on items procured in conjunction with a client’s request. I specialize in re-purposing items by decorating them with acrylic paint in hyper-realism and Trompe L'oeil style. I paint a very wide range of subject matter from flowers to stones to animals and insects to sneakers to teacups. My work is intensely colored, detail oriented and joyful. I work from actual objects and photos which are often supplied by the client, to create works to a client’s specifications. Working from reality is most effective for trompe l’oeil designs.
