I painted this graceful pedestal table with water based acrylic to appear as if it is covered with blue and white Delft tiles. It is sealed with polyurethane. The inspiration for the center classic windmill scene was an old delft plate. The varying shades of blue and 'gold' leaf are are carried into the table base and legs. The border tile designs and the pedestal motifs are loosely based on real tiles I found in my research. The table is 24" tall and the top is 14" across. Painting something similar starts @ $250 plus shipping and handling. As always, I can paint on your own piece of furniture if desired. Personalized items such as these are at the direction of the client. Every piece I do is hand painted and unique. I am Sue Banks, a self-taught artist who works in craft acrylics, usually on surfaces that do not require framing, such as furniture, household objects, and stones. I work on anything from vintage pieces to unfinished new items. Many of the projects shown here are examples of past work. Each project is always unique, and most are custom ordered. I work on items supplied by the client or on items procured in conjunction with a client’s request. I specialize in re-purposing items by decorating them with acrylic paint in hyper-realism and Trompe L'oeil style. I paint a very wide range of subject matter from flowers to stones to animals and insects to sneakers to teacups. My work is intensely colored, detail oriented and joyful. I work from actual objects and photos which are often supplied by the client, to create works to a client’s specifications. Working from reality is most effective for trompe l’oeil designs.
