Water Lily Pond Painted Bench

$300+

This vintage all wood bench is painted with a view of a Water Lily pond with unusual red, pink and yellow pads. A large fuchsia flower jumps off the surface with intense realism. I love the way the light hits the water at the top of the scene and how you can look into the murkiness of foliage below the water. Of course there is a frog!! I captured these botanical beauties at the Minneapolis Zoo a few years ago. I painted the graceful legs of the bench in four shades of green that darken as they descend, with gold and copper colored highlights. The seat is 20 1/2" X 14" and is 16" off the floor. The handles add an additional 3". It weighs 9lbs. Although this one is sold, I can also paint something similar for you on a piece you currently own or a similar one of mine.

I am Sue Banks, a self-taught artist who works in craft acrylics, usually on surfaces that do not require framing, such as furniture, household objects, and stones. I work on anything from vintage pieces to unfinished new items. Many of the projects shown here are examples of past work. Each project is always unique, and most are custom ordered. I work on items supplied by the client or on items procured in conjunction with a client’s request. I specialize in re-purposing items by decorating them with acrylic paint in hyper-realism and Trompe L'oeil style. I paint a very wide range of subject matter from flowers to stones to animals and insects to sneakers to teacups. My work is intensely colored, detail oriented and joyful. I work from actual objects and photos which are often supplied by the client, to create works to a client’s specifications. Working from reality is most effective for trompe l’oeil designs.
