Portage Strap

$45

A comfortable, stylish, and sturdy leather strap for portaging your bicycle on your shoulder, whether it's up the stairs or across a river. Designed for cyclo-cross racers, this minimalist shoulder strap does the work, padding your shoulder against the awkward bike angle when lifting the bike to carry. The leather strap wraps around the top bar and seat tube providing a comfortable suspension in between to be supported on your shoulder. The leather wrap on the top bar also gives the bike a nice and convenient handle close to the center of gravity and protects the bike's finish. Hand-made and hand-finished leather comes with choice of white, tan, dark brown, or black waxed thread, strong double-sided tape, and stitch kit with needle, thread, and instructions. The leather pictured here is dark brown. COLORS: Natural, Honey, Dark Brown, or Black MATERIALS: Vegetable-tanned leather DIMENSIONS: Appx 13" long by 3 3/4" wide. Fits road frames with 1 1/8" diameter tubing. MONOGRAMMING: Yes! This item can be monogrammed with up to 8 characters. If you'd like a monogram, please also purchase this monogram listing and indicate your monogram in the "message to seller" link during check out. Hi, I'm Geoffrey Franklin. I'm an 8th generation Oregonian, born and raised in Beaverton and Weston, Oregon. I graduated from the University of Oregon Architecture School. I run Walnut Studiolo with my wife, Valerie. I design and craft all the products in my workshop, and Valerie runs the business side.

Bicycle accessories are my core focus but I love good design, as an architecture student, and I loved learning how to work leather as a medium. Eventually I also started enjoying the juxtaposition of leather and wood. In these products, I'm expressing my love for good design, architectural concepts, and natural materials in products that I would want to use myself…and I do use myself. I field-test all my products until I'm comfortable with them before listing them on our shop.

My goal is to make high-quality, beautiful, durable, and most of all functional solutions to everyday problems. Thank you for buying small and handmade. I put my heart in everything I make.
