These baby moccasin booties are made from traditionally tanned deerskin leather uppers and buffalo leather soles. They are made considerately by hand in the Plains style. The sewing work is meticulous, all stitching is done by hand, and the finished product is wonderfully soft and great for a baby who is learning to walk. They also make special keepsakes. Traditionally tanned leather, or braintan, is made in the old way using no chemicals. This process is very labor intensive, creating leather that is as soft as suede, water resistant, and incredibly strong. These moccasins are made to order in infant sizes 3-6, 6-9, or 9-12 months. I can also make them with custom measurements. Other custom options are available for added cost including rabbit fur lining and bead work. Please contact me for more information about custom work. Orders take around 1 to 2 weeks to be completed.

I am a mom, herbalist, and skilled craftswoman living high in the mountains of Colorado. I make beautiful, custom leather creations and bedwork including moccasins, earrings, and medicine bags. My husband and I braintan much of our own leather, which means the leather is made from deer and elk taken in a good way and traditionally tanned. I am a skilled seamstress and I take great pride in sewing all my leather work by hand. I particularly love making custom items for people, including beaded leather work. Examples include high top moccasins, beaded pipe bags, and custom medicine pouches.
