This was done at the request of a lady who saw my leather covered "eye" journals and wanted to know if I could make her a Kindle Nook cover that looked like one of my 6"x9" journals, including that it look like a book when closed. This is constructed in a manner similar to my journals except that the front and back covers each consist of two pieces of leather with plywood and padding between them to offer adequate shock protection for the Nook. I added a leather piece that looks like book pages from the edge around three sides and it seals the Nook cover nicely. These pictures are the result. I want to add that I did not have a Kindle Nook to work from, I took dimensions from an internet ad for the Nook and made a wood mock up to use during the construction of the cover. The nook fit perfectly!

I contacted Gene with several questions about a project I wanted him to work on as a gift for my son. I'm pretty picky when it comes to leather goods and particularly when it comes to gifts. Gene was FANTASTIC at working with me on every little detail that went into the journal cover he created for me. A couple of rounds of back-and-forth discussion about this color and that, what kind of binding, etc. etc. etc. and soon we reached the starting point. Once the project was finished he sent pictures of the final result and I was bursting at the seams with satisfaction because of the spot-on job he did. I just gave the gift to my son for Christmas and he nearly blew a gasket at how awesome and unique this leather journal cover was. Thanks, Gene!
