Toasting Glasses In Spalted Maple (Wedding And 5th Year Anniversary)

Glasses turned on a lathe from a single block of Ambrosia Maple to be used for the toasts at the celebration of a fifth anniversary. These glasses are turned in a traditional style and are fully functional. The finish on them is walnut oil and carnauba wax on the exterior and mineral oil and beeswax on the interior to make them completely usable. They stand roughly eight inches high and three inches across and, following the tradition of the Irish Wedding Goblet, each pair is made from a single solid block, both cut from the same timber. ————————————————————— KEYWORDS: wood glasses, wooden glasses, hand turned glasses, lathe turned glasses, fifth anniversary, 5th anniversary, anniversary, Irish wedding glasses, Irish glasses, toasting glasses, wooden toasting glasses, wooden anniversary glasses, wooden fifth year glasses, medieval glasses, medieval wedding, renaissance glasses, renaissance festival, wedding glasses, wedding toast, wedding toasting glasses, marriage glasses, marriage toast

I have been making from wood for as long as I can remember. I take a great deal of pride in my work and will not accept a commission if I am not entirely sure I can complete it to your satisfaction. ShopDog Turnery is a one-person, one-dog operation making all sorts of custom items, primarily lathe based. This includes bottle-stoppers, wine glasses (with glass or wooden bowls), platters and plates, bowls, boxes, and whatever else springs to mind.

In addition to lathe work I make various flat pieces; tables, specialty boxes, cutting boards and, again, whatever else springs to mind.

I make for the joy of the making, using sustainably harvested and reclaimed or historical woods exclusively.

Molly was the ShopDog, but is no longer with us. She did all the "RUFF" work in the turnery.

For One maple rook for a chess set Project
    5.0

I would definitely work with this maker again. While my project was a very small one in comparison to others (a maple chess rook), we wanted one that matched our existing chess set (the puppy chewed up the original rook). Jim did a terrific job of matching it to an existing one. His price was very reasonable. He responded quickly to messages and I'm thrilled with the competed project. Thank you very very much! Working with Jim Barbour was a very positive experience. I especially liked Mr. Barbour's prompt communications with me about my custom, personalized cutting board project and I was promptly informed of the status of my project along the way. I highly recommend this craftsman.
