Intarsia-style rose built from black walnut to experiment with some new techniques. Parts were cut initially on a scroll saw, then shaped with a rotary tool. Each piece was cut individually to make the grain expand outward from the rose's center. The base is a stack that was cut on a bandsaw and sanded flush.

Good Morning. My name is Matthew White and I've been a woodworker since 1998. I'm mostly self-taught and I've been adding to my skills ever since.
By day I'm in the Air Force and I found woodworking to be an excellent creative release. It's also given me the opportunity to give back to those who have served.
I've burned murals for conference centers, built shadow boxes for retired Chiefs, and had my work grace offices in Washington D.C. I've had my work presented to Colonels and Airmen completing basic training.
It has been an awesome experience to share and I'm always open to a new project or challenge.
