Some bottles deserve to be put on display. This particular variant of the whiskey bottle box is every bit as excessive as its contents. A wider stance to hold the bottle is a given, along with an elliptical window, variable-width dovetails on the sides and matching splines in the corners. Built from oak or your choice of materials to fit a worthy presentation. The story of this box and the lumber: In the late '90's the family farm lost several trees due to an ice storm and we had them processed at a saw mill for lumber. One red oak log fought the mill and the log won. We only got one 4" slab before we ran out of blades/daylight and that single piece has been split into several projects since. With plenty of character, knots and carpenter bee scars, I finished it only with a linseed oil blend.

Good Morning. My name is Matthew White and I've been a woodworker since 1998. I'm mostly self-taught and I've been adding to my skills ever since.
By day I'm in the Air Force and I found woodworking to be an excellent creative release. It's also given me the opportunity to give back to those who have served.
I've burned murals for conference centers, built shadow boxes for retired Chiefs, and had my work grace offices in Washington D.C. I've had my work presented to Colonels and Airmen completing basic training.
It has been an awesome experience to share and I'm always open to a new project or challenge.
